Who shows up

The same last name on the trucks since 1994

Cedar Peak started with one van, a toolbox, and a rule Dad never bent: leave the furnace room cleaner than you found it. Thirty years later there are eight vans and eleven of us, and the rule has not changed.

You get a text with your technician’s name before we knock. We quote the price before we start, and when a repair is not worth your money, we say so and put both numbers in writing.

Furnace died at 9:30 on a Tuesday night in January — 12° outside. Called the emergency line expecting voicemail and got a real dispatcher. Marcus was in our driveway by 10:15 and had a new ignitor in by 11. He even set space heaters up for the kids' rooms while the house came back up to temp. Cannot say enough good things.

AC gave out during the July heat wave when it was 104°. Every other company quoted us 'sometime next week.' Cedar Peak had a tech out the same afternoon — bad capacitor, fixed in 40 minutes, and the bill matched the quote to the penny. This is why we've used them since the 90s.

Got three bids for a heat pump conversion in our Meridian house. Cedar Peak was the only one who measured rooms and checked the ducts instead of eyeballing it from the driveway. Install crew was their own employees, done in a day and a half, and our January bill dropped by about a third. The 'on my way' text with the tech's photo was a nice touch.

Honest company. Our 8-year-old furnace was short-cycling and another outfit told us we needed a full replacement. Cedar Peak's tech found a clogged filter and a dirty flame sensor — $164 total and it runs like new. They could have sold me a $7,000 furnace and didn't. That's who gets my business forever.

Had the $349 duct cleaning done after our remodel and the before-and-after photos were genuinely shocking — drywall dust packed in every run. No dust puffs from the vents anymore and my daughter's morning sneezing fits have basically stopped. Crew laid drop cloths everywhere and you'd never know they were here.

Water heater started leaking Sunday evening. Called Monday at 7:35am, tech arrived at 9, new tank installed and old one hauled away by 12:30 — with the expansion tank and strapping the last installer skipped. Kuna address and they didn't blink or charge a trip fee.

Straight answers

Questions we hear every week

How often should my furnace and AC be tuned up?

Once a year each: AC in the spring, furnace in the fall. Annual tune-ups keep manufacturer warranties valid, cut energy use, and catch small problems — a $12 capacitor — before they become a mid-July compressor failure. Peak Comfort Club members get both visits included.

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

The usual suspects are a clogged filter, a tripped condenser breaker, a frozen evaporator coil, or low refrigerant from a slow leak. Swap the filter and check the breaker first; if warm air is still blowing after 30 minutes, shut the system off so the coil can thaw and give us a call — running it dry can destroy the compressor.

Should I repair or replace my 15-year-old furnace?

Our rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than a third of a new system and the unit is past 12–15 years, replacement usually wins. We give you both numbers in writing — the repair quote and an installation estimate — and we will never pressure you toward the bigger ticket.

How long does a new system installation take?

Most straight swaps — same fuel, same footprint — are done in one day. A furnace-to-heat-pump conversion or a job with duct modifications typically runs a day and a half to two days. We confirm the schedule before you sign, and you always get a working system overnight during heating season.

What counts as an HVAC emergency?

No heat when it is below freezing, no cooling for infants, elderly, or medically fragile family members during a heat wave, a burning smell from any equipment, or a suspected gas or carbon-monoxide issue. For gas smells, leave the house and call the gas utility first — then call our 24/7 line at (208) 555-0199.
