Meridian questions, answered
My Meridian home was built in the mid-2000s boom — repair the original system or replace it?
The builder-grade furnaces and condensers that went into Paramount, Lochsa Falls, and Bridgetower are now 15–20 years old, which is end-of-life territory. Our rule of thumb: if the repair runs more than a third of the cost of a new system, replacement usually wins. You get both numbers in writing, no pressure either way.
Can I put a smart thermostat on my builder-grade Meridian system?
Almost always — the catch is wiring, not the equipment. Many boom-era installs skipped the C-wire a smart thermostat needs, so we pull one or fit an adapter, confirm your single-stage system is set up correctly in the app, and make sure short-cycling protection is on before we leave.

“Furnace died at 9:30 on a Tuesday night in January — 12° outside. Called the emergency line expecting voicemail and got a real dispatcher. Marcus was in our driveway by 10:15 and had a new ignitor in by 11. He even set space heaters up for the kids' rooms while the house came back up to temp. Cannot say enough good things.”
“AC gave out during the July heat wave when it was 104°. Every other company quoted us 'sometime next week.' Cedar Peak had a tech out the same afternoon — bad capacitor, fixed in 40 minutes, and the bill matched the quote to the penny. This is why we've used them since the 90s.”
“Got three bids for a heat pump conversion in our Meridian house. Cedar Peak was the only one who measured rooms and checked the ducts instead of eyeballing it from the driveway. Install crew was their own employees, done in a day and a half, and our January bill dropped by about a third. The 'on my way' text with the tech's photo was a nice touch.”
